Michael W. Rencheck

With over 35 years of domestic and international power industry experience (including over 20 years as a senior company officer, president, CEO and board member), Mike Rencheck  has demonstrated history of leadership and producing excellent results in utilities, engineering / construction and services industries.
 
He is a forward thinking leader with demonstrated ability to articulate a vision, align the workforce, set high standards, maintain accountability and deliver results.

James (Jim) Phillips

Vice-Chair

Good Governance Representative

Jim Phillips is a CPA and Chartered Director. He was appointed to the OMERS AC Board in 2009 and has served as the Chairs of their Audit and Governance Committees. He currently serves as Chair of two corporate Boards in the Energy sector and on two Boards in the Post Secondary Education sector including Wilfrid Laurier University Board of Governors.

During his career Jim had the opportunity to work in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. He currently practices as a consultant in the fields of Board Governance and Capital Project Fundraising. He was born in Chesley, resides in Kitchener and has a family cottage in Saugeen Shores.

David Doerksen

Vice-President, Marketing, Cameco Corporation

As head of global marketing at Cameco Corporation, one of the world’s largest providers of uranium fuel, David leads an international marketing team in developing and executing the overall marketing strategy for Cameco’s suite of nuclear fuel products and services. He has been with Cameco for over 20 years and held senior positions in corporate strategy, treasury, and business development before assuming his current role. Prior to joining Cameco, he held positions in finance and business development with a major international oil and gas company.

 

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce in finance from the University of Saskatchewan, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago, and a Canadian CPA, CMA.

Spencer Fox

President,  E.S. Fox Ltd.

Spencer Fox is the President of E.S. Fox Limited which was established in 1934 by his grandfather. E.S. Fox is recognized as a preeminent Canadian multi-trade Industrial, Commercial, Institutional and Nuclear constructor and fabricator. Under Spencer's direction, E.S. Fox Limited has become one of the largest mechanical and electrical contractors in Ontario. Ownership and management stability has been a historical strength in the company's history and has allowed management and employee capabilities to grow and will continue to do so.

​Spencer holds directorships on the Board of Trenergy, Association of Millwrighting Contractors of Canada, Canadian Nuclear Association, Industrial Contractors Association of Canada, Ontario Erector's Association, and the Nuclear Innovation Institute.

Gary Rose

Executive Vice President, Nuclear Canada, AtkinsRéalis, and 
President and CEO Candu Energy Inc.

Gary Rose is the Executive Vice President of Nuclear, Canada at AtkinsRéalis, and the President and CEO of Candu Energy Inc. Gary is responsible for the Canadian Nuclear business at AtkinsRéalis including the steward of CANDU® technology.  
Previously, for over 35 years, Mr. Rose worked at OPG, most recently as Vice-President of New Nuclear Growth. 


A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Mr. Rose is the past chair of the Durham College Board of Governor’s board of Durham College and a graduate of the Rotman Director Education Program. He holds a Masters Certificate in Project Management and received his Project Management Professional (PMP) designation in 2003.  He is also a certified corporate director (ICD.D).

David Harris

Since joining Kinectrics Inc. in 2003 as President and CEO, David Harris has successfully grown the company, both organically and through strategic acquisitions. Prior to leading Kinectrics, David was the Managing Director of Accentus Plc, a new company with 150 staff in the UK and the USA. David was also the Group Managing Director of Future Technologies, overseeing more than 600 staff. He was responsible for reviewing each operating unit to determine whether it should be held for growth, divestment, or closure.

David held many other strategically advancing positions after starting his career as a design engineer with UK AEA.

John MacQuarrie

John MacQuarrie is President of the Nuclear Power Group segment of BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT). John has more than 24 years of nuclear industry experience, his career includes over 20 years with the Company.

Previously, John served as Vice President, Business Development & Marketing for the Company's commercial nuclear energy operating group. Prior to that he was the Vice President of Nuclear Services for the Company where he was responsible for global services delivery. He assumed this role after several years as the General Manager of Nuclear Services and Equipment for the Company's Canadian operations.

John holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree of applied science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto and is a licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario.

Danielle La Croix

Sr. Director of the Environment, Sustainability and Net Zero, Bruce Power

Danielle La Croix has worked in the Environment field for over 15 years, and leads Bruce Power's Environmental Protection program, including the development and organization of the ESG program and net zero strategy. 

 

Danielle is responsible for the development and implementation of strong governance, oversight and support to ensure environmental protection and drive sustainability in Bruce Power’s operations and in their partnerships.

Gary Newman

Chief Engineer & Senior Vice President of Engineering,
Bruce Power

Gary Newman is the Chief Engineer and Senior Vice President of Engineering at Bruce Power. He is the Design Authority for Bruce Power and carries responsibility for all onsite engineering activity. Gary is very engaged in the nuclear industry, sitting on the boards of the CANDU Owners Group, the University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering and the Advanced Nuclear Research Center.

 

Gary joined Bruce Power in 2004 as the Department Manager of Equipment Life Cycle Engineering. Prior to that he was employed by AMEC Nuclear Safety Solutions Ltd., Ontario Power Generation and Ontario Hydro.

Mayor, Town of Saugeen Shores

Luke has served as the Mayor of the Town of Saugeen Shores since 2018, first elected to Saugeen Shores Council in 2006. He brings experience in local government and is a strong champion for the nuclear industry and innovation in the region.

 

Luke is the former Chair of the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority and Saugeen Shores Police Services Board, and currently sits as Chair of the Bruce County Library Board.

Karin Stephenson

Member at Large

Manager of Commercial Operations, McMaster University

Dr. Karin Stephenson is the Manager of Commercial Operations for McMaster University’s Nuclear Operations and Facilities. Karin has more than 20 years of experience in medical isotopes and radiopharmaceutical development. In her role at McMaster, Karin is responsible for maintaining, developing and identifying business opportunities as well as R&D technology/products relevant to customers and to the growth of the nuclear sciences field. 

 

Prior to coming to the University, she was the Director of Discovery at the Centre for Probe Development and Commercialization. In that role she led the research and discovery of new radiochemistry and radiopharmaceuticals with medical isotopes for applications in oncology and neurology research.

Jeff Parnell

President, Power Workers Union

Jeff Parnell is the President of the Power Workers Union, Ontario’s largest union in the electricity sector, representing over 18,000 members in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. The PWU is committed to the following principles: Create opportunities for sustainable, high-pay, high-skill jobs; ensure reliable, affordable, environmentally responsible electricity; build economic growth for Ontario’s communities; and promote intelligent reform of Ontario’s energy policy.

 

Jeff began his career with Ontario Hydro in 1987. As an experienced electricity sector contributor, he has unique perspective in conversations regarding energy policy and direction. Jeff sits on the boards of the Ivey Energy Centre Advisory Board,  OEB Energy Xchange, Plug'n Drive and numerous other industry initiatives where his experience and knowledge brings an ability to understand and provide solutions to problems that Ontario’s electricity industry faces, as it adapts to the pressures of climate change.
